Day 10 - An Unexpected Zero Day

I awoke to the sound of hard rain pelting the roof above me. I was happy to be in a hut, but dreading the idea of hiking in the rain. There was 5 of us here at Rocks hut. Kat, myself, Vincent, Justin, and Dan. Not one of us got up early to hit the trail. We were all feeling the same way about the havoc being conjured outside. Since I could text Brooke back in Winnipeg with my PLB she was able to tell us what the weather forcast was for the next 48 hours. When we found out the rain was trippleing by the afternoon we knew that the trail would be unsafe to continue forward. I put my rain gear on and took a short hike down the trail to see its status. The trail had turned into a waterfall, and the dry rock bed we had to walk over shortly before reaching Rocks Hut was a full flowing river. I was happy to know that we all decided to stay. we made a plan to grab some dry wood, and hunkered down for a zero day.

It was a day of stories, laughter, games and eating. We all got along great, which made the whole experience. Vincent took the time to cook some bread, cake and tea. He became our French Baker, sharing all his tasty creations with the rest of the hut. We played card games, ate as little food as we could and basically just sat around. It was the perfect unexpected zero day.
