Day 16 - Tarn hut to Porters hut
Yet again, Justin and I were last to leave the hut. I just love getting that little bit of extra sleep.
By the time Justin and I reached the peak we needed to hike over, the wind had picked up, and I could tell that rain wasn't far off. I was moving faster than ever today, so I put my headphones in and set off solo. For some reason, I had a ridiculous amount of energy and I wanted to walk! It wasn't long before i passed most of the group I bunked with last night and made it to Hunters hut for lunch. As soon as I arrived a cloud of haze and rain engulfed the valley and I knew I'd be hiking the second part of my day in wet gear.
After my wraps with salami and cheddar cheese lunch, I geared up and hit the trail. It started with a large rock field that - in the rain - was difficult to keep my balance. I managed to keep my footing, but later on, after the rain had stopped, I was descending down some rocks when I slipped back - throwing both my poles some feet up in the air - and landed straight on my ass. My first thought was to check my camera, and I was happy to see it was alright. If my cameras good I'm good.
By 6pm - after lots of mud - I reached Porters hut. I got a top bunk, made some dinner, dried out my clothes, did some yoga and enjoyed another beautiful sunset with some new friends.
